TARTUFFE: BORN AGAIN

Exit 22 Theatre/ Capilano College/ 2008

Freyda Thomas’ modern adaptation of 17th century version of Molier’s Tartuffe is set in our own era. Dawn Moore took this one step further to set it in present day in Vancouver.

Costumes are inspired by 17th century fashion with modern extravagant twist. Each costume design is based on the personality of the character with consideration of its reference in the script; Elmire ‘the trophy wife’, Maryann ‘Miss pink and pretty, daddy’s dear, true blue’, Dorine ‘You’re sneaky, snide, slinky as a cat’, Tartuffe a con-artist, fake from outside but true from inside including his Celvin Klein dollar sign underwear.
